In her role as an AMA coach and faculty member, Emma supports leaders to think ideally about the students and communities they serve in order to design the instructional (eco)systems that catalyze action of teachers and teammates due to clarity and belief in all kids.

In her previous work, Emma worked at Collegiate Academies in New Orleans, Louisiana where she was most recently the Senior Director of Curriculum for Collegiate Academies, and led Manager development for the network team. She joined Collegiate in 2011 as a math teacher and has been an instructional coach, the Director of Mathematics, and the Director of Teaching & Learning before founding the CA Curriculum Team in 2021. Emma led a team of curriculum directors in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and English to publish and provide high-quality, accessible Tier 1 and support teachers with implementation. She still works as a CA Teammate on special projects that support Tier 1 instructional goals.

Emma worked for TNTP in various roles: supporting early career teacher training and certification at the Baltimore City Teaching Residency, partnering with school districts nationally to adopt the CCSS math standards and high-quality math instructional materials, developed the TNTP AcademyOnline secondary math teacher certification course, and was a founder and designer of TNTPs Good to Great Teacher Math Institute that focused on centering teacher and leader development in math content knowledge and content pedagogy to promote rigorous instructional shifts in classroom.

Emma is dedicated to creating and leading spaces that prioritize rigorous learning for diverse learners. She believes in the power and importance of high-quality instructional materials to dramatically improve teacher development and help students reach their academic goals. She loves to talk about Goals, MTSS, AI, co-teaching and the intersecting web of scaffolds, accommodations, modifications, specially designed instruction, and curriculum to serve all students.

Emma completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Penn State University. She moved to New Orleans in 2009, where she still lives today.
