We need fresh, new approaches – human and digital – when it comes to student data, so that students and families in communities across the U.S. can effectively use these important insights and engage in their education and learning in meaningful ways.

Cambiar Thrive's investments fuel innovative solutions that provide students and caregivers with the data they need to make informed decisions.

In addition to funding, Thrive grantees experience support services we provide Cambiar entrepreneurs. This includes coaching, design, peer learning, research, and access to experts.

Cambiar Thrive  Model

We need fresh, new approaches – digital and human – when it comes to student data, so that students and families in communities across the U.S. can effectively use these important insights and engage in their education and learning in meaningful ways.

The heart symbol in Thrive's logo represents our model—a Venn diagram.

One side represents what technology can enable: consistency, personalization, access, and meaningful communications tailored to different families.

The other represents what only people can build: trust, feedback loops, and the kind of conversations that turn information into action.

The exponential impact lives in the overlap.

TalkingPoints
uses technology to give schools and families a better way to work together. They replace one-way announcements and updates with two-way translated communication and data-driven guidance, turning caregivers from bystanders into partners, and schools into known, trusted communities.

The trust shows in the data: 94% of families report feeling more confident supporting their child's learning. Research found students in districts using TalkingPoints gained the equivalent of seven months of extra learning in math. TalkingPoints reaches 9 million students, families, and educators across all 50 states.
EdLight logo

‍EdLight gives teachers a faster, more personal window into how each student is actually thinking through a math problem, so support feels targeted and specific, not generic.‍

‍

That personal view narrowed the gap in outcomes for students in higher-need schools in particular, and students who reached EdLight mastery scored 11.8 points higher on average on state math assessments, the equivalent of 4 to 5 months of accelerated learning.

‍Paloma Learning helps districts improve early literacy by enabling parents to extend classroom instruction into the home.‍

‍

Results show it's working: In 55 Title I districts across the country, Paloma is getting most parents to reinforce foundational literacy skills at home through short, daily tutoring sessions aligned to district curricula. Last year, this accelerated reading growth by 64%, with twice the impact for multilingual learners. Parents using Paloma replicate the effect size of high-dosage tutoring, without burdening teachers or budgets.
building21 logo with colorful interconnected circles forming a network.

Building 21 is built on students being known well, by mentors and family alike, through a personalized learning plan that only works if someone is actually reading and responding to it with the student.‍

‍

That relationship is deepening: plan open rates across its three flagship schools jumped from roughly half to 84-87% this year, and 46% of students chose to use AI feedback and revise their work, opting into more engagement, not less. An independent Mathematica evaluation across eight schools found students met expected growth on national benchmarks, and Building 21's own framework predicts college success nearly twice as well as standardized tests.
3D styled text reading 'LEARNING HEROES' with red star above the word LEARNING.
Learning Heroes supports families and educators in having a shared understanding of student progress so parents can team up with teachers to advance their child's learning. They reach 30M+ families annually in 25+ states, partner with 136+ schools/districts, and 1,000+ partners impacting 4,000 teachers, and 90,000 students.
‍
Improved outcomes follow: a study found parents in districts participating in a Learning Heroes pilot were twice as likely to enroll their child in tutoring. In our Thrive pilot, families showed a 15-point increase in understanding how their child was performing and 75% committing to support their child’s writing and math outside of school.

Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) builds closer, more insightful dialogue between teachers, and students and caregivers about disciplinary writing and complex student thinking, providing actionable feedback from educators who comprehend their work, not just a simplistic grade.

‍

That closeness shows up in outcomes: LDC students scored 13.7 points higher on average on state assessments than non-LDC students, the equivalent of 4 to 6 months of extra literacy learning. The gains held even for the lowest-performing students, showing LDC is especially effective for those behind grade level.
