In 2022, Dacia Toll brought an early version of Coursemojo to a Velocity Learning Circle. The feedback: Focus on one of the most important priorities districts face: reading achievement, design something that is core (not supplemental), and build for the students who need it most first, not as an afterthought. Coursemojo rebuilt around those ideas.‍

So much formative assessment data highlights what kids can't do. Teryn Thomas founded EdLight to show the data that kids can. Early on, she insisted every student scan work from their own device, until teachers showed her that one path didn't fit every classroom. EdLight expanded how work gets captured, so a teacher can also run a scanning station for the class.

The pivot became the process: Ongoing feedback form design cycles have since helped EdLight scale: 40K to 150K+ students projected reached. 12pt gain on math assessments.

Conversations with educators convinced former teacher and LitLab Co-founder & CEO Varun Gulati that the shift to the science of reading left teachers rich in curriculum but starved for aligned practice. LitLab built its "word engine" based on input from literacy specialists and teachers, plus feedback from system leaders through multiple Velocity events.

Educators see it show up in the classroom: Pilot classrooms outperformed peers and landed in the top quartile for growth nationwide with every student gaining in oral reading fluency.
