Uses AI simulations and coaching to help teachers build the skills that matter most for students.

All Incubated Ventures
New teachers shouldn't have to learn their most important skills through trial and error, with real students. TeachSim gives them a better way.

Great teaching takes skill, but most teacher development still asks teachers to learn about teaching rather than actually practice it. TeachSim changes that. Teachers prepare for a real lesson, step into an AI simulation to practice a key moment, get specific feedback, and try again, all in about 20 minutes. They build the skill before they ever need it in front of real students.

TeachSim is built on a decade of research led by Dr. Julie Cohen at the University of Virginia's TeachSim Lab, tested with more than 1,000 teachers. Today, it focuses on the reading and math skills new K-8 teachers need most to teach strong, evidence-based curricula well. Great materials don't teach themselves. Teachers must build the skill to turn a good lesson into good teaching.

Rebekah Berlin, PhD, Co-Founder & CEO, TeachSim

Rebekah has spent her career chasing the same question from different angles: how do you help more people become expert teachers? She started as an elementary teacher in Memphis, then helped launch the TeachSim Lab at the University of Virginia, where she designed the simulations, coaching approach, and instructional measures still at the center of the lab's work today. The research showed something simple but powerful. When future teachers got to rehearse hard moments, get feedback, and try again, they got better at teaching. She spent the next decade bringing that insight to more teachers, leading national work at Deans for Impact and product development at Teachstone, before founding TeachSim to bring it full circle, using AI to bring an approach proven through years of research to teachers everywhere.

Hallie Parten, Co-Founder & CPO, TeachSim

Hallie got interested in how teachers build real skill as a middle school math teacher and Teach For America corps member in Memphis, watching how much new teachers are expected to figure out while already responsible for a room full of kids. That question led her to become a data scientist at the University of Virginia's TeachSim Lab, where she designed simulations for research proving coached practice could improve real classroom instruction. She then took on a harder problem: using AI to replicate a model that had depended on trained human actors and coaches. The AI-powered simulation and measurement approach she built are the technical foundation TeachSim runs on today.
