Most schools stop teaching foundational reading skills after second grade, even though many students still need that support well beyond it. Magpie Literacy fills that gap with digital tools that teach the building blocks of reading, from letter sounds to multisyllabic words, spanning grades K-8 instead of just the early years. 

In an independent study of over 1,000 students, kids using Magpie gained 13 more points in a key predictor of reading success than their peers, with the strongest gains among students who started furthest behind. Magpie has partnered with Great Minds to bring this work into classrooms nationwide, aiming to reach more than 1 million students by 2030.

Rebecca built Louisiana's nationally recognized English language arts curriculum and assessment system, work that put her inside classrooms across an entire state. Even with strong curriculum in place, she kept seeing the same problem: too many students never got the early literacy support they needed, and that gap only widened as they moved through school. She built Magpie to close it, pairing the science of reading with technology that can reach far more students than any one classroom ever could.
