Ben has built schools from the ground up in the hardest circumstances imaginable. Instead of stopping there, he turned what he learned into a method other leaders can actually use.

After Hurricane Katrina, Ben founded Sci Academy in New Orleans, a school built for students entering far below grade level. It became one of the city's top-performing schools and the foundation for Collegiate Academies, a network that went on to serve 3,500 students in Louisiana who need it most, many of whom entered ninth grade years behind in reading and math. Over more than a decade, he built and tested the tools that got over 90 percent of those students into college. That experience convinced him that systems don't fail because people don't care. They fail when leaders don't have the tools to build schools rooted in access and high expectations for every student.
